about creation and extinction
The process putting metal layers on the object carved out of wax in a bath by electroforming means life creation. Thickness of piled layers represents time, and several layers by Ottchil(Korean lacquer) colors mainly expressed in my works mean accumulation of time. Ottchil is a Korean traditional Craft technic which used to protect surfaces vulnerable to external stimulus at the same time layers could be accumulated itself to make a form. With Electroforming and Ottchil techniques that share the same process, I create my layers, and those layers creates new life and protects itself. Through this process, my works are born with powerful vitality beyond the flow of time.
